The start of any new year means setting resolutions that some of us will keep and others not so much, but what should Liverpool’s first team be eyeing in 2026?
Alisson – Keep fit into final year of contract
Liverpool have an option to renew Alisson‘s deal for a further year this summer, and that is a no-brainer – but nothing would be better than the Brazilian staying fit for the entirety.
He will go down in history as one of, if not Liverpool’s best, and as we don’t want to face the reality of life without him, it’s time for him to stay fit so we see as much of him as possible.
Giorgi Mamardashvili – Improve distribution
Alisson‘s injuries were always to afford Mamardashvili chances in his debut season, but in those games, we saw parts of his game in need of improvement, his distribution being one of them.
It started to improve once his teammates realised he was left-footed, but he needs to be better yet.
Conor Bradley – Stay injury-free

Season on season there are several injuries that plague Bradley’s campaign, and his record could mean Liverpool have to dip back into the transfer market.
The right-back has shown what he is capable of on the biggest of stages, but the Reds need to be able to rely on him consistently, which is not something that can be said of him.
Staying fit is the key.
Jeremie Frimpong – Availability
Much like his fellow full-back partner, Frimpong could do with a consistent run without injuries to consolidate a place in the team – and inject the pace the Reds have long needed.
He’s shown potential, but being able to rely on him will offer more dynamism to the right side of the pitch.
Joe Gomez – Score that goal!

This one will have been on our and his resolution list for quite a number of years, but there is nothing more any of us would want than to celebrate Gomez’s first professional goal.
In over 300 senior club and international appearances, he has never found the back of the net. Imagine if he’s the one who wins us a trophy this season, the scenes!
Virgil van Dijk – Maintain the standards
Van Dijk made history in 2025 by becoming the first Dutchman to lift the Premier League title and went on to show his exemplary leadership qualities in incredibly tough moments.
He sets the standards you hope will leave a lasting impression at the club long after he leaves, and the standards he sets on and off the pitch will be key to a successful 2026.
Ibrahima Konate – Sign the contract
Some of Konate’s performances may have led to questions over whether Liverpool should be extending a long-term contract, but the club cannot accept losing a player for free at 26.
Sign the contract, Ibou.
Milos Kerkez – Fully settle in

It has not been an easy transition for the 22-year-old, but the more he settles in at the club and in his new city, the more it will show on the pitch.
Liverpool would not have signed him if they didn’t see potential and that he could belong; he has to remember that.
Andy Robertson – Prove experience is irreplaceable
Liverpool signed his successor in the summer and he’s seen fewer minutes as a result, but equally that his experience and leadership are invaluable.
As a free agent in the summer, Robertson must continue to prove he is irreplaceable to extend his stay at Anfield. He’s a needed voice in the dressing room, they’re not easy to find!
Wataru Endo – Build up to an important summer
Endo has played only 223 minutes this season and is currently sidelined with injury, which has already had a knock-on effect on his playing time with Japan.
With the World Cup to come in the summer and Slot unlikely to change his opinion on the Japan captain, Endo must either break into the Dutchman’s plans or find a way to move in January.
The latter does not help the Reds’ squad depth, though!
Florian Wirtz – Ignore the outside noise

We all know that Wirtz’s numbers would be a lot higher if his teammates finished off the chances he created, but Liverpool supporters don’t need to be told that.
He has bulked up and is starting to show that he can run matches, and he must forget what the critics say and focus on improving his fitness and the numbers will come, as will the silence of those who doubt him.
Dominik Szoboszlai – Don’t change a thing

Honestly, there is not one thing that Szoboszlai needs to change. Just stay as you are, Dom.
Alexis Mac Allister – Win the World Cup again
Winning trophies with Liverpool obviously comes first, but there are few players who get the chance to win back-to-back World Cups, and Macca is now one of them.
Argentina stand a reasonable chance of defending their title, and Liverpool’s No. 10 will be key to that, hopefully after he lifts the European Cup with the Reds!
Curtis Jones – Consolidate a place in XI

Jones has started more games than he has not so far this season, but his goal will be to consolidate a place in the starting XI, and that comes with consistently performing week in, week out.
Ryan Gravenberch – Thrive with competition
This one banks on Liverpool signing competition for the Dutchman in the summer, but you would expect that to happen, and Gravenberch has to embrace it and thrive.
He currently knows he is in the XI if he is fit and the added competition ought to not only elevate his performances, but Liverpool as a whole.
Alexander Isak – Return to full fitness and start scoring
It has been far from the start to life at Liverpool that Isak would have dreamt of when he signed in a record-breaking deal, but the goal now will be to make a statement return from his broken leg.
Just three goals so far but we know he is capable of much more. Imagine if he was to return at the business end of the Champions League, that could deliver the big moment we all craved from him.
Mo Salah – Win a trophy

Salah has no shortage of these, but if this is to be his last season at the club, then there would be no better way to send him off than with another piece of silverware.
He’s one of the best we’ve had the privilege of watching, it’s only right we can celebrate together one last time, if it is to be the last…
Cody Gakpo – Add more dynamism to the arsenal
We all know he loves a cutback onto the right foot and then a shot at goal, but it is time to add a little more dynamism and unpredictability.
Kerkez would appreciate it too.
Federico Chiesa – Show his worth
It has not exactly been easy at Anfield for Chiesa, with Slot showing little trust in giving him opportunities.
He’s at a crossroads and this summer may see him move on, but we will all want to see him show his worth again, whether that be at Liverpool or another club – but not before first giving us more reasons to celebrate with him!
Hugo Ekitike – Keep banging in the goals

It has been quite the start to life at Liverpool for the Frenchman, who quickly won over the supporters while scoring important goals. He was made to embrace the big moments.
We want more of them in 2026, lots more.
