Vaibhav Suryavanshi was the youngest cricketer to make Ranji Trophy debut
Suryavanshi made headlines when he made his debut at the astonishingly young age of 12 years and 284 days against Mumbai during the 2023-24 Ranji Trophy season, setting a record as the youngest player in the tournament’s history. This incredible accomplishment surpassed records previously held by cricketing greats like Yuvraj Singh, who debuted at 15 years and 57 days, and Sachin Tendulkar, who began his career at 15 years and 230 days.
Suryavanshi’s brilliance shone further during the Youth Test series against Australia in Chennai, where he scored an explosive 104 runs off just 62 balls.
At 13 years and 188 days, he became the youngest player to score a century in the 170-year history of competitive cricket and also set a new benchmark as the fastest Indian to achieve a century at the youth level. His remarkable knock of 58 balls ranks as the second-fastest century in this category, just behind England’s Moeen Ali, who achieved the feat in 56 balls.
Suryavanshi’s rapid ascent continues to inspire and captivate cricket enthusiasts around the globe.
