2 former Purple Cap winners who could go unsold in IPL 2025 Auctions

The life of a bowler could be very short in the Indian Premier League. While injuries play a role, in general, bowlers get found out more often than batters. Of course, the T20 format belongs to the batters and hence, bowlers find it hard. Hence, some of the Purple Cap winners may also fade out in just a few years. On that note, here, we take a look at the list of two former Purple Cap winners who could go unsold in IPL 2025 Auctions.

1) Imran Tahir – 2019

Imran Tahir is still very much active in the game. Recently, he was retained by JSK in SA20 despite his age being well over 40. Imran Tahir is doing well with the ball and in the CPL, he also had a good run as a skipper.

That said, his stint in the IPL seems to have come to an end. Now, barring the likes of Rashid Khan, teams are not investing in a foreign spinner. Also, Imran Tahir’s profile might not suit many teams. He could actually be a liability because he could leak runs at times. These reasons might not get him an IPL contract in 2025.

2) Andrew Tye – 2018

Andrew Tye is one of the former Purple Cap winners who could go unsold in IPL 2025 Auctions. At one point in his career, Andrew Tye was very popular for his T20 bowler. He had multiple variations up his sleeve and he inevitably picked a lot of wickets at the death. He was especially known for his knuckleball.

However, in the last few years, his career has declined. Currently, he does not have a contract in any of the major T20 leagues. The IPL teams have also moved on from him. They have younger and better players available in the market and hence, Tye might go unsold.
