2 Huge Additions in Gautam Gambhir’s Staff: T Dilip Retained- Report

According to a report, the BCCI is all set to appoint Abhiehsk Nayar and Ryan Ten Doeschate as assistant coaches of the Indian cricket team. Though no official statement has been made by the team management, the reports claim that both Nayar and ten Doeschate will join new head coach Gautam Gambhir in the upcoming T20I and ODI series against Sri Lanka. Previously, Nayar was the assistant coach for Kolkata Knight riders while Doeschate also served as KKR’s fielding coach when Gambhir served as mentor. T Dilip, who served as fielding coach under Rahul Dravid is reportedly going to be retained in the new support staff as well.

Though, the questions still remains over the appointment of the bowling coach but Morne Morkel, who was former south African cricket team fast bowler, is being considered as a strong candidate for the position.

Morkel has also worked with Gambhir as a part of the Kolkata Knight Riders team. Morkel has played for the franchise between 2014 and 2016, under Gambhir’s captaincy, even winning the title in 2014.

The report states that Dilip and Nayar will travel with the team to Sri Lanka but it is not clear of when Ten Doeschate will join the side. He is currently working as a part of the coaching staff of the LA Knight Riders in the ongoing Major League Cricket (MLC). The board is currently having conversation with Morkel about the job of the bowling coach, but no solid outcome has come out of the discussions yet.
