Team India registered a commanding 41-run victory over Sri Lanka in the exciting encounter of the Asia Cup 2023, securing a place in the tournament’s final. The final is scheduled to be played on September 17 at R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo.

With a modest 214-run target on the line, the Indian bowlers stepped up big-time against Sri Lanka. They kept grabbing wickets left and right, eventually bowing them out for just 172 runs in 41.3 overs.

Kuldeep Yadav, the star performer from the last game against Pakistan in which he picked a five-wicket haul, made it look easy by eking out four wickets in this game. He dismissed Sadeera Samarawickrama and Charith Asalanka one after the other.

Rahul, the man with the gloves, played a big role in both of Kuldeep’s wickets. First, he showed lightning-fast reflexes with a stumping that got rid of Samarawickrama, who was in good form but departed with only 17 runs to his name.

Then, in Kuldeep’s very next over, the India wicket-keeper pulled off a spectacular catch behind the stumps to dismiss Charith Asalanka at 22.

During the post-match conference, Rahul displayed his selflessness when discussing Kuldeep Yadav’s wicket-taking prowess. He emphasized that he didn’t want to steal any credit from Kuldeep for his wickets and instead showered him with praise for his outstanding form.

“I am noy gonna take any credit for the wickets he has taken. He still had to execute the skill. From behind the stumps you can read what the batsman is doing, where he is going to play, where you can probably get him out so yeah, I just passed on the message and luckily for me, for Kuldeep, and for the team it paid off immediately. It happened in the last game against Pakistan so that’s how you build trust with your bowlers,” KL Rahul said when asked about what advice he gave to Kuldeep from behind the stumps.
