IND vs SL: Watch – Rohit Sharma Yells In Frustration As Virat Kohli Gets Out To Dunith Wellalage In Asia Cup 2023

Sri Lanka have pulled things drastically back in the ongoing Super Four game of the Asia Cup 2023 against India. The Dasun Shanaka-led side has removed wickets in quick succession of time including that of the centurion from the last game, Virat Kohli. 

India, after opting to bat first, were off to a flying start as skipper Rohit Sharma (53) and Shubman Gill (19) smashed 80 runs for the opening partnership. However, after that Sri Lanka introduced Dunith Wellalage into the attack and he removed the latter. 

It was expected that both Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli would turn back to the old days and stitch a big partnership. But that didn’t happen as Dunith Wellalage in the very next over after removing Shubman Gill came back to take the wicket of India’s No.3. 

Dunuth Wellalage bowled a short delivery that stuck into the surface. Virat Kohli failed to control his flick as the ball didn’t come on and the batter gave the simple catch to mid-wicket. His wicket frustrated Rohit Sharma, who yelled in frustration and expressed his disappointment with his teammate getting out.

Virat Kohli, who scored an unbeaten 122 runs against Pakistan, managed just 3 runs off 12 balls. However, his knock helped him achieve a milestone with Rohit Sharma. The duo as a pair completed 5,000 runs in ODIs in just 86 innings at an average of around 63. Out of the 13 pairs that have aggregated a minimum of 4,000 runs together in ODIs, they have the highest average. 

IND vs SL: After Virat Kohli, Dunith Wellalage removes skipper Rohit Sharma 

Dunith Wellalage continued to wreak havoc across the Indian batting lineup. After removing Shubman Gill and Virat Kohli, he sent skipper Rohit Sharma packing as well. 

He bowled an arm ball which was slightly short. The ball kept low and beat the toe-end of Rohit Sharma’s bat and crashed into the leg stump. The Indian skipper went after scoring a brisk half-century. He ended with the knock of 53 runs in 48 balls including 7 fours and 2 sixes.
