The high voltage clash between India and Pakistan on Monday did not go Pakistan’s way as India defeated them by a huge margin of 228 runs. The loss was more concerning as pacers Naseem Shah and Haris Rauf did not come out bat, as reported both of them sustained injuries.
On monday, the pakistan cricket board did not confirm Rauf and Naseem’s participation in the the rest of the tournament, but did call Shanawaz Dahani and Zaman Khan as their back ups.
Team doctor, Sohail Saleem while answering the concerns said, “These two fast bowlers are our assets and the team’s medical panel will provide them the best possible care ahead of the all-important World Cup.”
But On wednesday, the eve of important match between Sri Lanka and Pakistan, Naseem was ruled out due the shoulder injury he endured on monday. Zaman Khan, the 22 year old, right arm pacer was named as his replacement.
Precautions Ahead of World Cup
Young gun, Naseem shah is one the frontline bowlers of his team, and at no cost would Pakistan want him to be absent during the world cup.
Assuring the fans, The PCB board said, “ (Naseem) “continues to be monitored by the team’s medical panel that is taking all necessary precaution.”
Zaman Khan debuted for pakistan , earlier this year in march against Afghanistan in a t20 match, the young quickie has already started training with the pakistan side.
However, Rauf has not been ruled out as of now, and as informed by the PCB, (Rauf) “continues to recover well”, after experiencing a slight discomfort in right flank during the IND VS PAK match.
Pakistan might have to play without their two key components of the pace attack in the deciding match against Sri Lanka. None of the two teams will leave any boxes unchecked as India has already reached the final of Asia cup after handing Lankas their first loss in last 13 ODI.
