The 2026 Nyanza Region Schools rugby 15s pools have been confirmed ahead of the tournament scheduled to take place at Maseno School from March 18–21, 2026.
In the boys’ category, eight teams will battle for the two available slots to the national championships. The teams have been split into two pools of four.
Pool A has been widely viewed as the “pool of death,” featuring FEASSA defending champions and Nyanza title holders Kisii School. They will face St. Mary’s School Yala, Nyambaria High School and hosts Maseno School in what is expected to be a highly competitive group.
Pool B will be headlined by Otieno Oyoo High School, alongside Gendia High School, Anjego High School and Cardinal Otunga High School.
EDITOR’S PICKS:
Kisii School are the defending champions after clinching last year’s title at Rapogi Boys High School in Migori County. They defeated St. Mary’s Yala 3–0 in a tightly contested final to secure a historic third consecutive regional title.
The decisive moment came in the closing stages when Matrix Matangi, now with Kabras Sugar RFC, slotted a remarkable penalty from over 55 metres. His match-winning kick also saw him named the tournament’s Most Valuable Player.
In the girls’ category, six teams will compete, divided into two pools of three teams each. Pool A will feature Enkinda Secondary School, Sigoti Girls High School and Sidindi Girls High School.
Pool B will include Moi Girls Suba, Nyagichenga Secondary School and Mawego Girls High School.
