Signed to a $700,000 contract with the White Sox on Jan. 15, 2023, Luis Reyes has slowly but steadily developed into one of the more interesting young arms in the system. At 6´2´´and 190 pounds, Reyes has noticeably added some strength since he first arrived in pro ball, and this has translated to additional power on the mound.

Throwing from a loose, easy arm action, Reyes repeats his delivery well. His fastball now sits in the low- to mid-90s but can touch 97 mph. The righty also throws a slider in the low 80s — and it is by far his most-used pitch, coming in at a rate close to 50%. The 81-84 mph go-to slider has the makings of an actual out pitch. His other offerings are works-in-progress, but the foundation of a solid arsenal is in place.

At just 19 years old for all of 2025, Reyes pitched the entire season for the Kannapolis Cannon Ballers. The hurler showed signs of continued development despite a somewhat uneven season overall. After a tough April and May, Reyes was able to turn the corner in mid-summer. The righthander was named MiLB Pitcher of the Month in June, when he gave up only one earned run over 25 innings. Reyes posted a microscopic 0.36 ERA and a 0.72 WHIP in that month, highlighted by two seven-inning, complete game shutouts. He understandably regressed a bit in July (5.59 ERA) before ending the season on a stronger note in August (3.60 ERA).

After underwhelming results in the DSL and Complex League in 2023 and 2024, 2025 was a step in the right direction for Reyes. He improved his command while still maintaining a strikeout rate above 9.0. The next step for Reyes is to find a consistent professional routine and log innings while continuing to add command and secondary pitches. With his size, arm strength, athleticism, and makeup, Reyes has the potential to be a mid-rotation starter if he is able to maintain/improve his command. The upside is very real, especially considering his age, and expect him to be a member of the High-A Dash rotation breaking camp in 2026.
