3 coaches you might not know were Head Coaches in the Indian Cricket League

Before the Indian Premier League started, the Indian Cricket League was in place. The concept of IPL was first tested there. However, the league had to face a lot of legal hurdles. Then, the tournament was scrapped. IPL came into the picture and became extremely successful. Here, we take a look at the list of three coaches you might not know were Head Coaches in the Indian Cricket League.

1) Michael Bevan – Chennai Superstars

Not many know that Bevan had a stint as a Head Coach in the Indian Cricket League. Led by Stuart Law, the team was coached by the former Australian cricketer, who had just announced his retirement back then.

Interestingly, he is the only candidate to have been the Head Coach in both the ICL and the IPL. Back in the fourth edition of the IPL, he was the Head Coach of the Kings XI Punjab. That said, after that, Bevan did not have a long coaching career. He could still make a comeback, though.

2) Madan Lal – Delji Jets

Madan Lal is one of the coaches you might not know were Head Coaches in the Indian Cricket League. A fine all-rounder that India saw, Madan Lal also had a good coaching career.

In the 1996 ODI World Cup, he was the Head Coach of the UAE Team. Later, he was appointed as the Head Coach of the Indian Team. His stint did not last long, though. Later, he was also the Chairman of Selectors.

3) Sandip Patil – Mumbai Champs

A fine batter from Mumbai, Sandip Patil had a decent coaching career. Back in 1996, he was the Head Coach of the Indian Cricket Team.

A few years later, he became the Chairman of Selectors, as well. He made some popular decisions during this stint. He was the Head Coach of the Mumbai Champs.
