R Ashwin, despite his age, was a hot commodity at the IPL 2025 Auctions. CSK signed him for a hefty price of INR 9.75 Cr. Here, we take a look at the list of three franchises which targeted R Ashwin before CSK signed him in IPL 2025 Mega Auctions.
1) Lucknow Super Giants
It was clear that LSG needed an experienced partner for Ravi Bishnoi. Hence, they had their eyes set on R Ashwin for the next season.
However, they did not have the budget to go hard for him. Eventually, LSG signed Shahbaz Ahmed as the second spinner.
2) Royal Challengers Bengaluru bid for R Ashwin before CSK signed him for IPL 2025
RCB is one of the franchises which targeted R Ashwin before CSK signed him in IPL 2025 Mega Auctions. Interestingly, RCB also bid for R Ashwin.
At Chinnaswamy, such skilled cricketers offer good value. Andy Flower likes batting depth and hence, the franchise could have considered the cricketer.
3) Rajasthan Royals
Rajasthan Royals wanted to get back R Ashwin. He had done well for them and also, the franchise would have wanted one of their spinners back.
