Recently, IPL announced the retention rules for IPL 2025 Mega Auctions. It also became clear that the next cycle will happen until IPL 2027. Hence, for IPL 2028, we could see a Mega Auction. Before that, a few players could retire from the league. Therefore, the IPL 2025 Mega Auctions might be the last time that these players will get sold. On that note, here, we take a look at the list of three Indian IPL legends who could be involved in the Mega Auctions for the final time.
1) R Ashwin
By the next Mega Auction, R Ashwin will be above 40. While his fitness could push him until then, R Ashwin himself might consider making way for the younger stars.
Rajasthan Royals might not retain him mainly due to his age. However, there will still be demand for him at the auctions. Even if he can perform for the next two seasons, that will be worth it for the teams that will sign him up.
2) Ishant Sharma
Yes, he might not be an IPL legend exactly but Ishant Sharma still did have an impact on the tournament. In the initial seasons, he was one of the top pacers in the league.
Later, in his Deccan Chargers stint, as well, Ishant had a good run. In recent years, he has been consistent for the Delhi Capitals too. It could be his final involvement in the upcoming Mega Auctions.
3) Bhuvneshwar Kumar
Bhuvneshwar Kumar is one of the Indian IPL legends who could be involved in the Mega Auctions for the final time. One of the best pacers that the league has seen, most likely, it will be the last time that Bhuvi might go under the hammer in a Mega Auction.
He is 34 and his skills are declining. It will be very hard to imagine him being a part of the tournament three years later. Hence, he is on this list.
