3 Indians who may not play an ODI game for a very long time

Gautam Gambhir and Ajit Agarkar attended a press conference on Monday. The duo gave a lot of insights on how the team was derived for the upcoming tour of Sri Lanka. A few of their words gave a hint on the futures of a few players. On that note, here, we take a look at the list of three Indians who may not play an ODI game for a very long time.

1) Yashasvi Jaiswal

It needs to be noted that despite his excellence in T20Is and Tests, Jaiswal is yet to make his ODI debut. Until the Champions Trophy, at least, Rohit and Shubman will stay at the top of the order.

The likes of B Sai Sudharsan and Ruturaj Gaikwad will also offer competition at the top of the order. Hence, it could be hard for Jaiswal to get to play in ODIs. Also, looking at the perspectives of Gambhir and Agarkar, they seem to have clarity on format-based squads.

2) Suryakumar Yadav

Suryakumar Yadav is one of the Indians who may not play an ODI game for a very long time. The experiment to have SKY in ODIs did not work well for Team India. It seems that Gautam Gambhir has learned from this trial.

After appointing him as the T20I skipper, it appears that SKY will not be considered for the ODIs. It is a good call as his entire focus will be on the T20I format and for ODIs, some youngsters could be tried.

3) Ravi Bishnoi

Ravi Bishnoi is currently a part of only the T20I format. Kuldeep Yadav leads the spin attack in ODIs. Axar Patel is the second option while for the Sri Lanka series, Washington Sundar is the third. Since Jaddu is set to return to ODIs later on, Bishnoi may not get a chance in ODIs.

Also, Bishnoi’s fast leg-spin seems more suited for the T20I format. He has a very defensive style and this may not work in the ODI format.
