As per reports, franchises have requested an additional slot to retain uncapped players before IPL 2025. This is a good move to help teams secure the talents on whom they have invested a lot. Here, we take a look at the list of three players CSK could retain in the uncapped slot before IPL 2025.
1) Rajvardhan Hangargekar
Rajvardhan Hangargekar is one of the players CSK could retain in the uncapped slot before IPL 2025. It is unfortunate that despite his promise in IPL 2023, he hardly got a game in IPL 2024.
Nevertheless, he is a talent for the future and CSK must carefully develop him. They have already invested a lot in him and they must continue to do so. He has the potential to become a top bowling all-rounder and CSK should consider this aspect.
2) Sameer Rizvi
It needs to be noted that Sameer Rizvi was chased by many teams at IPL 2024 Auctions. Eventually, CSK managed to hire him at a top price. However, Sameer was not able to do well and that also comes down to the fact that he did not have proper opportunities.
Sameer is a youngster with a top potential. He is good against spin and can also operate with the ball. Considering these factors, CSK must trust the cricketer. If he comes off, CSK would have a generational talent on their hands.
3) Simarjeet Singh
It is tough to get players with a raw pace. Simarjeet Singh, in the limited chances that he got in IPL 2024, was in good form. Earlier, in the previous seasons too, he had a few good games with CSK.
The likes of Mukesh Choudhary could also be in the fray but CSK needs to have a look at the future and the composition of the squad. In this regard, Simarjeet could be a decent pick.
