Rest of India will take on Mumbai from October 1st in the Irani Trophy. The squad was announced on Tuesday. Here, we take a look at the list of three players shockingly not selected in the Rest of India Squad 2024 for the Irani Trophy.
Rest of India squad:Â Ruturaj Gaikwad (C), Abhimanyu Easwaran (VC), Sai Sudharsan, Devdutt Padikkal, Dhruv Jurel (WK)*, Ishan Kishan (WK), Manav Suthar, Saransh Jain, Prasidh Krishna, Mukesh Kumar, Yash Dayal*, Ricky Bhui, Shashwat Rawat, Khaleel Ahmed, Rahul Chahar
1) R Sai Kishore
R Sai Kishore was the highest wicket-taker in Ranji Trophy 2023/24. He did really well across the games and also contributed with the bat. Of course, he also captained his team all the way to the finals.
He might have not continued the same form in the Duleep Trophy but you cannot judge a player in three games played between random squads. Hence, it is a bit shocking that Sai had to miss out.
2) Baba Indrajith (if he was fit)
Baba Indrajith is one of the players who was shockingly not selected in the Rest of India Squad 2024 for the Irani Trophy. The Tamil Nadu batter has been in good form for the last few seasons now. Yet, he is just not getting a spot close to the Indian Team.
He even did well, especially in tough situations. He had a fitness issue in the last game. If he was available and still not selected, it is unlucky for the consistent batter.
3) Arshdeep Singh
You could say that he could not break open the door in Duleep Trophy 2024. However, with 13 scalps, he was the fourth-highest wicket-taker in the competition.
Also, with the confidence he has in international cricket, Arshdeep surely should have been in consideration. However, the Punjab man lost out his spot to the likes of Yash Dayal and Khaleel Ahmed.
