Duleep Trophy 2024 is not a zonal-based competition. Some players who did well in 2023 will not be a part of the edition now. Here, we take a look at the list of three players who did well in Duleep Trophy 2023 but dropped for Duleep Trophy 2024.
1) Nishant Sindhu
The youngster from Haryana was brilliant in the last edition. He was one of the highest run-getters and also picked some wickets.
However, his domestic season after that was not great. The likes of R Sai Kishore did brilliantly. Hence, naturally, he lost his spot. He now needs to perform well in the next Ranji Trophy to get back into the scheme of things.
2) Arzan Nagwaswalla
Arzan Nagwaswalla is one of the players who did well in the Duleep Trophy 2023 but dropped for the Duleep Trophy 2024. Not long ago, he was in the Indian Team, as well. But, he did not get a game. Cut to a few years later, he is not in one of the most important FC tournaments.
He took 10 wickets in the last edition and was one of the better pacers. With India looking for left-arm seamers in Tests, the Gujarat man could have been an option. It appears that the selectors are now intent on choosing between Yash Dayal, Khaleel Ahmed and Arshdeep Singh.
3) Prabhsimran Singh
With 202 runs, the Punjab man was the highest run-getter in the last edition. However, he is not in any of the four squads in the Duleep Trophy 2024.
Considering he is young and is also a fine keeper, it is a bit shocking to not see him there. However, the squads are only for the first round. When the likes of Shubman Gill depart to play for India, Prabhsimran could get a chance. That said, it is a wake-up call for him to start doing well in Tests.
