Dwayne Bravo did a good job at CSK as the Bowling Coach. Now, he has joined KKR as the Mentor of the franchise. This is a big gap at CSK and they would need to replace him with a former cricketer of a similar stature. On that note, here, we take a look at the list of three popular cricketers CSK can target as a replacement for Dwayne Bravo as bowling coach.
1) Shane Bond (if released by Rajasthan Royals)
With the appointment of Rahul Dravid as the Head Coach of RR, Shane Bond‘s progress is blocked at the franchise. Last season, he came in as the bowling and assistant coach, with the obvious expectation of going up further in the coming editions.
Bond is a proper coach and will be the best option for CSK. He has experience in the IPL as the bowling coach for Mumbai Indians, as well. He is a Kiwi and will bond well with Stephen Fleming.
2) Dale Steyn (if released by Sunrisers Hyderabad)
Dale Steyn is one of the popular cricketers CSK can target as a replacement for Dwayne Bravo as bowling coach. Last season, he pulled out of his gig as the bowling coach of SRH.
If he is available on the market, CSK should try him. It will be hard to pull off because Steyn is associated with the SRH owners in SA20, as well. However, coaching the likes of Matheesha Pathirana at CSK is a big opportunity and even Steyn might want to pursue it.
3) Brett Lee
He has not had a lot of experience as a coach. However, when you hear his words in the com-box and take into consideration his accomplishments, he could be a good signing for CSK.
Lee did well for Australia in all the formats. CSK needs a coach who can add more value than what Bravo did. Lee is perfectly capable of that.
