Of course, overseas players play a vital role in any team. The importance could be such that they could even form the main core of the side. For instance, with Sunrisers Hyderabad, that is the case. However, it is not so with some of the other teams. On that note, here, we take a look at the list of three teams which might not retain any foreigners before the IPL 2025 Auctions.
1) Mumbai Indians
Mumbai Indians have a very strong domestic core and they will not be able to retain any foreign cricketers. On the other hand, there are not many overseas players in the current team who deserve retention.
Back then, MI used to consistently retain Lasith Malinga and Kieron Pollard. However, the times have changed now. They have a very solid Indian contingent and unfortunately, they might even have to release some of them.
2) Punjab Kings
Punjab Kings is one of the teams which might not retain any foreigners before the IPL 2025 Auctions. If given a chance, Punjab Kings might be ready to not retain a single player. Hence, it is obvious that there are no priorities when it comes to the overseas cricketers.
Yes, Sam Curran does come close but he is someone attainable at the auctions. He is anyways not consistent and might not merit a retention before a Mega Auction. Arshdeep Singh could be the sole retention for PBKS before the next auctions.
3) Royal Challengers Bengaluru
Cameron Green and Will Jacks are the only deserving foreign retentions for RCB. However, Will Jacks is inconsistent and may not be a reliable retention.
On the other hand, it is not sure if Green will accept for a pay-cut. In any combination, he will be earning less than what he was earning in the last two seasons. Otherwise, he is sure to be retained by RCB.
