USA seamer Saurabh Netravalkar shot to prominence after he took the prized wicket of Virat Kohli at the ongoing T20 World Cup 2024 in New York recently. The 32-year-old exposed the premier batsman’s frailties by pitching the balls at the off-stump before setting up a trap.
The left-arm fast-medium bowler’s trap worked perfectly as Kohli tried to chase a wide ball before leading to an edge off his bat. Kohli departed for a duck and that wasn’t the only wicket the pacer accounted for. The India-born USA pacer also went on to dismiss Indian captain Rohit Sharma for 3 runs.
For the record, Saurabh Netravalkar is an Indian-born cricketer and software engineer. Not many know that the USA seamer had previously represented the India under-19 team. He made his first-class debut for Mumbai cricket team in the Ranji Trophy on December 22, 2013.
Overall, he has taken five wickets in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 so far. Notably, the co-hosts, USA have advanced to the Super 8’s. The team will expect Saurabh to continue his good form going forward. The IPL franchises who are currently monitoring the players’ performances in the marquee event must have taken some interest in Saurabh. Let’s take a look at the three teams who would love to sign him in IPL 2025.
1. Chennai Super Kings
CSK are the smartest team in the IPL and history tells the same. They have a reputation for often acquiring seasoned and experienced players. This strategy has been part of their approach since the inception of the IPL. CSK would be showing a great deal of interest in signing Saurabh Netravalkar for IPL 2025.
The nature of the Chepauk pitches are slow. This is exactly where the left-arm medium-fast bowler can be put to great use, where he will be able to use his application to reap the rewards. CSK failed to qualify for IPL 2024 playoffs by finishing fifth on the table. They will do everything and anything to bolster their team in the upcoming season.
