A MI star has also been bestowed with the captaincy duties of the side.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), earlier today, announced the squad for ACC Men’s T20 Emerging Teams Asia Cup 2024. Interestingly, the roster features four Mumbai Indians (MI) players – Tilak Varma, Nehal Wadhera, Hrithik Shokeen and Anshul Kamboj.
Notably, Mumbai Indians star Tilak Varma has also been named the skipper of the young India side while talented left-handed batter Abhishek Sharma will serve as his deputy.
While Tilak and Abhishek have some amount of international exposure, the rest of the squad can bank on their IPL experience.
Ayush Badoni (LSG), Ramandeep Singh (KKR), Prabhsimran Singh (PBKS), Nehal Wadhera (MI), and Anuj Rawat (RCB) make up a formidable batting lineup. On the bowling side, the group features R Sai Kishore (GT), Hrithik Shokeen, Rasikh Salam (DC), Vaibhav Arora (KKR), and Aaqib Khan.

The squad also includes all-rounders Nishant Sindhu, a member of India’s victorious 2022 Under-19 World Cup team, and Anshul Kamboj, who impressed during the recent four-day Duleep Trophy matches.
India is set to start their campaign on October 19 against Pakistan A. Oman and the UAE are the other teams in their group.
For the first time, the tournament will be played in the T20 format, unlike the previous five editions, which were played in the 50-over format. India claimed victory in the inaugural edition in 2013, while Pakistan secured the championship in the last two tournaments. In 2023, Pakistan successfully defended their title by defeating India in the final.
