All the ten IPL teams have recently announced their retention list for the forthcoming edition of the IPL, almost a week ago on October 31st. This lets the team management to strategize for the auction, which is expected to be held in the last week of November.
For the record, as many as 46 cricketers were retained across the teams with several marquee names parting ways with their teams to enter the mega auction. While some teams splashed the cash to keep their core players, other teams preferred to let go of the big names in order to build the base from the scratch. 1. Mumbai Indians
Mumbai Indians are one of the most successful team in the history of the IPL. They have won five IPL titles since the inception of the tournament. They last won the title in the IPL 2020 season, where they defeated Delhi Capitals by 5 wickets to win the 5th title.
It has been four years since they last won the title and it remains to be seen how they will go about their business in the 2025 edition of the IPL. Mumbai Indians have retained the best core ahead of the IPL 2025 mega auction. They have retained big names such as Rohit Sharma (INR 16.30 crore), Jasprit Bumrah (INR 18 crore), Suryakumar Yadav (INR 18 crore), Hardik Pandya (INR 16.35 crore) and Tilak Verma (INR 8 crore).
Overall, they have spent INR 75 crores at the retention deadline day. They have Rs 44 crore left in their total wallet along with one right to match card option for the auction. There were several speculations about Mumbai Indians releasing Rohit Sharma ahead of the retention deadline date. However, the five time IPL champions chose to retain their former captain.
