5 players to watch out for in the T20 WC final between India and South Africa

The T20 World Cup final between India and South Africa will take place on Saturday at the Kensington Oval in Barbados. Here are 5 players to watch out in the match.

1. Rohit Sharma

The Indian captain is the top scorer for his side with 248 runs and he has really elevated his game in the past 2 matches. His knock of 92 against Australia propelled India to victory and his knock of 55 against England also proved to be crucial as it helped the Men in Blue in posting a fighting total of 171 which proved to be more than enough as England was bowled out for only 103 runs which led to India winning the match and reaching the final of the T20 World Cup. The South African bowlers will have to dismiss him cheaply otherwise he has the capability to turn the match in India’s favor.

2. Quinton de Kock

The South African wicket-keeper batsman is his side’s leading run-scorer in the tournament so far with 204 runs. His best knocks came in the Super 8 stage where he scored 74 against USA and 65 against England to lead the Proteas to victory in both matches. He can really hurt the opposition if he gets going so his wicket will prove to be crucial for India.

Jasprit Bumrah

3. Jasprit Bumrah

The Indian pacer has been the best bowler for India throughout the tournament. He has taken 13 wickets in the tournament so far that too at a very impressive economy rate of 4.12. Though he isn’t the highest wicket-taker for India in the tournament, still he is the most valuable bowler for the Men in Blue without any doubt. With the pitch at Barbados providing help to seamers, the South African batsmen especially need to be careful of Bumrah.

4. Anrich Nortje

The 30 year-old South African pacer has proved to be his side’s lethal weapon throughout the tournament. He is the leading wicket-taker for the Proteas with 13 wickets at an economy rate of only 5.64. He has not only taken the wickets for his side but has also proved to be quite economical making him one of the most important players for the South African team. With the pitch at Kensington oval favoring the seamers, Nortje may turn out to be South Africa’s trump card.

5. Hardik Pandya

The all-rounder can turn out to be the difference between the two teams in the final. He came into this tournament after a dismal IPL 2024 campaign with many fans questioning his selection into the squad. However, he proved all his doubters wrong with great performances in the T20 World Cup. Pandya has made 139 runs and has taken 8 wickets in the tournament so far. He proved to be really influential for the Men in Blue in matches against Pakistan and Bangladesh. He will prove to be a crucial player in the final for India in both the batting and bowling departments.
