Pokemon is in for a massive year in 2026. Not only is it the 30th Anniversary, but there are also multiple games slated to be released and so much more. Because of this, we are going to give our 5 Predictions for Pokemon in 2026.

Our Pokemon Predictions for 2026 will mainly focus on the games, but there will be some discussion of cards and other media as well.
5. Pokemon Champions Release Date
One of the surprise announcements of 2025 was that the VGC was getting its own game in Pokemon Champions.
This game will remind players of Pokemon Stadium but one that is updated with all of the new Pokemon and in Stadiums more like the ones seen in Pokemon Sword and Shield. Champions will also help to hopefully usher in a new era of VGC fans and players. Aspects of Pokemon such as stats, are being simplified with formats easily seen on the game as well. There is little doubt that when Pokemon Champions comes out that it has the chance to truly change the VGC for the better.
We are predicting that Pokemon Champions will be released in mid to late January. There have been plenty of reumors speculating that this could be the case, especially with Pokopia launching a little less than a week after Pokemon Day.

4. Pokemon Card Boom Slows in 2026
The prices for Pokemon Cards have been skyrocketing for years and the ceiling looks like it is starting to be hit.
To be clear, this is mainly due to scalpers who are grabbing everything they can before anyone else can get product and then raising the price. While this is the world Pokemon fans live in, it is one that is probably going to start to slow down at some point in 2026. For the first time in some time, even GameStops and Local Card Shops are starting to price themselves out for players.
Generally, this is the first sign of change coming for Pokemon Cards. They will still be popular with new sets coming and potentially a whole new Generation of Pokemon but, something has to give. With a new major printing facility in North Carolina going up in 2027 as well, it looks like the Pokemon Card boom will start to slow with more cards getting printed than ever before.

3. Pokemon Pokopia Gets a DLC
We already know that Pokemon Pokopia is releasing in early March of 2026.
What is not known is what comes after that. There are many who believe that this could be just the beginning for a new Pokopia franchise as long as the game sells well. Thanks to the Teraleaks, there are potential plans for a DLC of some type and an explanation for this game being set in an apocalypse of some sort in Kanto. Or at least, that was the plan at one point.
We are predicting that Pokopia will get a DLC that they release similar to Mega Dimension in the sense that it comes out soon after Pokopia’s launch. We could see it releasing some time in May or early June as a bridge until we get to the Holiday Season.

2. The BIGGEST Pokemon Day Yet
Pokemon Day is a very special day for Pokemon fans.
Not only do we celebrate the launch of the franchise but we also get to see what The Pokemon Company has planned for the future. Generally, this is filled with updates for live service games like Pokemon Unite and Pokemon Go. Also they will give more information for games that we know about, such as Pokemon Pokopia which will release less than a week later.
But what everyone looks forward to is the new announcements for the future and with it being the 30th Anniversary, we believe that this will be Pokemon’s biggest Pokemon Day yet.
We will do an article and video about this once February hits but, we expect there to be not one, not two, but at least three major announcements. One that we are certain and have as our final prediction will be the announcement of Pokemon Gen 10 with a release date and likely the starters getting revealed as well.
Pokemon 30th Anniversary
1. Pokemon Gen 10 (Wind and Wave)
As stated above, the final Prediction revolves around Pokemon Gen 10, also currently known as Wind and Wave, thanks to the Teraleaks.
Based on these leaks, this will easily be Pokemon’s most ambitious title to date. One that will be massive in terms of scale, graphically impressive and as immersive of a game as we have ever seen.
On Pokemon Day, we predict that Pokemon Gen 10 will be revealed to be released sometime in either late October or early November of 2026. With this, we will also get a look at the game with the New Starters and even the main protagonists.
This would be a fitting end to the 30th Anniversary Celebration of Pokemon and one that would spark discussion and speculation for the rest of 2026.
