As the governing body for the Indian Premier League (IPL), the council has released a full list of player retention players for the mega auction for IPL 2025. Players like Rishabh Pant, Shreyas Iyer, KL Rahul, and Mohammed Shami from the Indian cricket team have been placed in the marquee lists. While Pant and Iyer fall under Marquee List 1 while the second list features Rahul and Shami. The auction which will last for two days will commence at 3 PM IST (12:30 PM local time) on November 24. Of the 574 Players, 366 are Indian players while 208 are foreigners with 3 being from associate countries. The Auction will also feature 318 Indian uncapped players and 12 uncapped players from overseas. A total of 204 slots will be there for the takings with 70 for overseas players. The highest reserve price has been set at INR 2 Crore which has seen the highest number of players, 81, choose to be in the top bracket.
All of them were released by their respective franchises prior to the cut off date of October 31st. Iyer led KKR to their first title after a ten year drought last season but the management opted to keep Andre Russell, Sunil Narine, Rinku Singh, Varun Chakravarthy, Harshit Rana and Ramandeep Singh.
On the contrary DC held on to Kuldeep Yadav, Axar Patel, Tristan Stubbs and Abhishek Porel. They will be going to the auction with two capped Right to Match (RTM) cards. Much like this also was the fate of Rahul at LSG. LSG have kept five players which includes two without players — Nicholas Pooran, Mayank Yadav, Ravi Bishnoi, Mohsin Khan and Ayush Badoni.
Pant, Iyer and Rahul are anticipated to get high-end contracts, as there are quite a few franchises looking for a captain, which boosts their marketability. Among the overseas players, a bidding war is likely to commence for Jos Buttler, as a result of the shocking news of him being released by Rajasthan Royals. The captain of the white ball side from england is also in contention for teams looking for a skipper
