World ParaVolley is proud to announce that the first-ever Beach ParaVolley Level 1 Coaching Course pilot practical will be delivered in the Solomon Islands immediately following the Level 1 Sitting Volleyball coaching course in late March 2026.
This landmark pilot represents a major step forward in the global development of Beach ParaVolley, extending formal coach education by WPV into the outdoor ParaVolley discipline for the first time. By scheduling the course directly after the sitting volleyball programme, World ParaVolley aims to maximise regional impact, accessibility, and extend learning opportunities for coaches across the Pacific.
The Beach ParaVolley Level 1 Coaching qualification will mirror the established Sitting Volleyball coach education pathway by including both e-learning (Part A), followed by a Practical (Part B). This first face-to-face practical pilot will take place on Thursday 26 and Friday 27 March 2026, providing a concentrated, practical learning experience for club coaches, emerging national-level coaches, and Bach ParaVolley advocates.
The course is designed to build foundational coaching knowledge specific to the beach environment, with a strong emphasis on inclusive delivery, coaching athletes with a disability, and the technical and tactical adaptations unique to Beach ParaVolley (compared to Beach Volleyball).
Delivered in partnership with the Solomon Islands National Paralympic Committee (SINPC), the practical course will be led by Coach Tutor Aaron Alsop, an experienced coach educator with extensive expertise in adaptive sport coaching, Volleyball and the pacific region, ensuring a high-quality learning experience grounded in both theory and real-world application.
Delivered in English, the qualification focuses on:
- Introduction to Beach ParaVolley rules and player classifications
- Coaching fundamentals (organisation and tactical) specific to the 3v3 game
- Skill development for athletes with a disability
- Inclusive coaching practices, session planning and athlete-centred delivery
- Activating Beach ParaVolley growth in developing communities
The Solomon Islands provides an ideal setting for this inaugural pilot, with its strong beach culture and growing commitment to ParaVolley development. The course will take place at the Solomon Islands National Institute of Sport, Honiara, which offers excellent facilities suited to both beach volleyball practical sessions and group workshops. Hosting the course immediately after the sitting volleyball programme offers participants a unique opportunity to gain exposure to both indoor and outdoor ParaVolley disciplines within a single trip and venture – making them the first dual qualified ParaVolley coaches in the world.

Coaches can apply to attend this pilot by applying here. Priority will be given to coaches already attending the Level 1 Sitting Volleyball Course or those actively contributing to ParaVolley development within their nation or region.
This pilot course marks the beginning of World ParaVolley’s broader vision to establish structured, internationally recognised coaching pathways for Beach ParaVolley, supporting participation, performance, and inclusive sport opportunities worldwide.
World ParaVolley has strategic ambitions towards the development of standing Beach ParaVolley globally. With the likely future inclusion of Beach ParaVolley in regional Continental Games such as the South East Asian Games and Pacific Games, the need to develop qualified coaches in Beach ParaVolley is important for sustained success. Developing the coaching workforce, along with inclusion in Continental Games are critical milestones towards WPV’s goal to have Beach ParaVolley included in future Paralympic Games.
