As per reports, franchises are pushing BCCI to allot an additional slot to retain uncapped players before IPL 2025 Auctions. The idea is that the teams would be able to secure the talents whom they have groomed. Mumbai Indians are usually good in this aspect. Here, we take a look at the list of three players Mumbai Indians could retain in the uncapped slot before the IPL 2025 Auctions.
1) Nehal Wadhera
Nehal Wadhera did not get a lot of chances last season. Nevertheless, the way in which he operated in IPL 2024, Mumbai Indians will surely consider him as a retention choice.
Nehal is a fine left-handed batter. He bats in the middle order and is especially good against spin. Plus, he bowls leg spin. If he can further work on his bowling, he would be an asset for any T20 side. MI can trust him and therefore, they could retain him.
2) Vishnu Vinod
Vishnu Vinod is one of the players Mumbai Indians could retain in the uncapped slot before the IPL 2025 Auctions. The Kerala batter had to miss IPL 2024 due to an injury. Harvik Desai replaced him.
Considering Ishan Kishan might be released, Mumbai Indians could retain Vishnu Vinod as the uncapped wicket-keeper. The former RCB player has experience in the IPL and is already a well-known name in the domestic circuit. He can play as a finisher and hence, MI could opt for him.
3) Naman Dhir
Naman Dhir made his debut in IPL 2024. He did not take a long time to showcase his skills. He got quite a few games to express himself at No.3 and he made good use of his chances in a few matches.
Naman is a technically strong batter and can change gears quickly. He is also a decent off-spinner and MI also used this in IPL 2024. The player is a good fielder, as well. These multi-dimensional aspects could help him get retained.
