The knockout stages of this year’s BingwaFest 10s in Western Region tournament are set, with quarterfinal clashes lined up across the Cup and Challenge Trophy categories at the Bull Ring on Saturday.
The Challenge Trophy promises high-stakes action for teams aiming to claim silverware in the secondary competition. The first set of quarterfinals kicks off at 08:50 with Rank 09 Bungoma Rugby taking on Rank 16 Standi in Pool A, while Shamberere Poly faces Rank 15 Nalondo Community in Pool B. At 09:15, Western Bulls Development meets Mumias West TVC, and Kakamega Dragons clash with Kisiwa Poly, completing the quarterfinal line-up. Winners will advance to the semifinals scheduled for 13:00.
BingwaFest quarters
The women’s competition features some mouth-watering matchups, with Mwira Rugby (Rank 1) facing Kisii Rugby (Rank 8) at 09:40, followed by Shamberere Poly (Rank 2) against Masinde Muliro (Rank 7) at 10:30.
Sheywe Rugby (Rank 3) will take on Kisiwa Poly (Rank 6) at 11:20, while Blackrock Rugby (Rank 4) battles Lugulu Development (Rank 5) at 12:10. The winners will progress to the semifinals in the afternoon.
The men’s Cup quarterfinals feature the top eight teams from the pools. Masinde Muliro (Rank 1 after group stages) face Mbale Rugby (Rank 8) at 10:05, while Sigalagala Poly (Rank 2) meets Andeliza Community (Rank 7) at 10:55.

Kaimosi Poly (Rank 3) clashes with Webuye Rugby (Rank 6) at 11:45, and Kibabii University (Rank 4) takes on Busia Borderrucks (Rank 5) at 12:35. Winners will move on to the semifinals later in the day.
The Challenge Trophy semifinals follow at 13:00, with winners from the quarterfinals going head-to-head to secure a spot in the final at 15:55. Meanwhile, the 5th place semifinals will determine final rankings for teams missing out on the Cup semifinals, with the women’s 5th place final at 16:20 and the men’s at 16:45.
The women’s Cup semifinals are scheduled for 14:15 and 15:05, while the men’s Cup semifinals follow at 14:40 and 15:30. These matches set the stage for the grand final set for Mumias complex, with teams battling for the ultimate bragging rights and championship glory.
