Long Beach, CA (January 26, 2026)–
In a thrilling, high-level matchup on January 24, 2026, Raymond Muratalla, 29. (24-0, 17 KOs) successfully retained his IBF lightweight title against Andy Cruz, 30, (6-1, 3 KOs) at the Fontainebleau in Las Vegas, winning by majority decision (114-114, 116-112, 118-110). Muratalla, entering as a +200 underdog on some betting sites, utilized constant pressure to edge out the 2020 Olympic gold medalist.

The match was a high-level contest between the undefeated champion Muratalla and the highly decorated Olympic gold medalist Cruz, who suffered his first professional loss.
Muratalla’s relentless pressure and body work in the championship rounds seemed to be the difference maker, as it was the first time Cruz had fought beyond 10 rounds.

Although the official scorecards show a clear winner, many ringside observers and unofficial scorecards rated it much closer, with some even calling it a draw.

Post-fight, Muratalla expressed interest in fighting the winner of the upcoming Shakur Stevenson vs. Teofimo Lopez fight.
