WATCH: England star Jos Buttler reveals why he will miss the upcoming SA20 league

The highly anticipated  SA20 league 2025, set to take place from January 9 to February 8, 2025, will be missing one of its star attractions. England cricket star Jos Buttler has announced that he will not be participating in the next edition of the tournament.

Jos Buttler on why he is not participating in SA20 league

Paarl Royals, one of the prominent teams in the SA20 league, recently shared a video on their Instagram channel featuring Buttler. In the video, Buttler expressed his regret over not being able to join the league this season due to international commitments with the England cricket team.

In the video, Buttler addressed the Paarl Royals fans and expressed his disappointment that he would not return for SA20 2025, “Hi everyone, Jos Buttler here. This is a message for all Paarl Royals fans. I am disappointed that I will not be coming back to the SA20.

Buttler also discussed his reason for not participating in the tournament, “There are some England games on, and that’s where all my focus will be. So, yeah, it’s a shame I won’t be coming back to the tournament.”

Despite his absence, Buttler conveyed his deep affection for the tournament and the Paarl Royals fans. He wished the team success and expressed hope for a return in the future, “I have a lot of love for that tournament, a huge amount of love for the Paarl Royals and especially all the Paarl Royals fans. So, I wish you all the best in the competition, and I hope to come back in the future.

Buttler’s outstanding performance in the SA20 2024 edition 

Buttler’s performance in the previous SA20 edition was stellar, as he was one of the highest run-scorers in the tournament. He amassed 408 runs in 11 matches, with three fifties, at an impressive average of 40.80 and a strike rate of 143.66. His contributions were instrumental in helping the Paarl Royals reach the playoffs.

The absence of such a key player will undoubtedly be felt by the team and its fans. However, the Paarl Royals will look to build on their previous success and aim for the title in the upcoming edition of the SA20 league.
