Parag, who has long admired Kohli, received not only his cap but also some motivational words from the veteran player.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) shared a video of the event, capturing the heartfelt moment. In the video, Kohli addressed Parag with a message full of encouragement and belief, “Riyan, congratulations on playing your first game for India.”
Kohli further said that Selectors, head coach Gautam Gambhir and Rohit Sharma see something special in him as the young cricketer has the potential to be a match-winner.
“In today’s cricket, we all know that apart from performances, those responsible for selecting you are watching you closely, and they see something special in you. Having spoken to GG bhai (Gautam Gambhir), Rohit, selectors, and everyone, they all see something special in you. You can become a match-winner for India,” said Kohli.
Kohli also expressed confidence in Parag’s all-round abilities and said, ” I’ve known you a while and believe now is the perfect time for you to shine. I have known you for a while. And there is no better time than now, 1-0 down in the series, to start your international career with an impactful performance with bat, ball, and in the field as well. I have full confidence in your abilities.”
When Kohli handed Parag his debut cap, he wished him luck and said, “I wish you all the best, cap 256, Riyan Parag.”
