Manchester United welcome Fulham to Old Trafford in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon.

The Red Devils have beaten both Manchester City and Arsenal since Michael Carrick was named as caretaker head coach earlier this month, and the former England midfielder will hope to continue his fine start when they host the Cottagers.

Ahead of that match, it has emerged that the Red Devils are prepared to spend a significant amount to sign one of their top transfer targets.

As per TEAMtalk, Man United are willing to smash their transfer record in order to sign Brighton and Hove Albion star Carlos Baleba.

The report claims that the Manchester outfit are prepared to spend up to £100 million to sign the Cameroon international this summer.

Baleba, 22, joined the Seagulls from French side Lille back in 2023 and has since 98 appearances for the south coast club across all competitions.

United will face competition in the race to sign Baleba, however, with Premier League rivals Chelsea said to also be interested in the midfielder.

Baleba’s contract with Brighton isn’t set to expire until the end of the 2027/28 campaign, but the player himself is said to be open to the prospect of a move to Old Trafford.

It is claimed that Brighton never had any intention of selling the player during the current January transfer window, and their reluctance to lose him at all means that he will cost a premium if he is to depart The Amex during the upcoming summer window.

United were on the hunt for a new midfielder ahead of the current campaign, but failed in their attempts to sign Baleba last summer.

The midfielder has since continued to impress for Brighton, and he also featured recently for Cameroon at the African Cup of Nations in Morocco.
