Shakur Stevenson Dominates Teofimo Lopez To Become 4-Division Champ

Shakur Stevenson showed everyone why he is one of the greatest boxers on the planet, handily defeating Teofimo Lopez at Madison Square Garden to become a four-division world champion.

Lopez looked to push the pace early and establish his jab, but Stevenson’s accuracy proved to be a problem for the defending champ right out of the gate. Stevenson steadily took over the bout, leaning on his jab and left to put Lopez on his back foot for the majority of the matchup.

Lopez looked to string together combinations, but Stevenson was always a step ahead, mixing in the occasional uppercut while connecting with stiff jabs and straight lefts. Things went that way for much of the fight, though Lopez found some success in the eighth, ripping to Stevenson’s body and finally getting his rhythm together.

Unfortunately for Lopez, his success would stop there as Stevenson dominated the championship rounds and ultimately ran away with a decisive decision victory.

Official Result: Shakur Stevenson def.Teofimo Lopez via unanimous decision (119-109, 119-109, 119-109) to capture the WBO super lightweight world championship.
