Extra UK adds Coast Optics to its portfolio, taking on exclusive distribution of the brand across the UK and Ireland.
Coast Optics was founded by two Brits, Alex and Sam, when following every mountain biker’s dream of moving to Whistler and riding the best trails British Columbia has to offer. After meeting while working in one of Whistler’s locally owned bike shops, they soon discovered that as well as sharing a deep-rooted love for riding, they also had a shared passion for nature, the environment and doing everything within their power to protect it.

The brand says its aim is to provide high-performance, sustainably sourced, quality eyewear with a minimal environmental impact. By using sustainably sourced, biodegradable materials, Coast Optics products provide a greener alternative, whilst maintaining the quality and performance required to tackle the gnarliest trails and conditions out there!
Sustainable Materials
Coast Optics use a bio-based material derived from plant-based feedstock for their glasses frames. Tests have proven this material to be as lightweight, durable, impact resistant and temperature stable as TR90 which is the industry standard material for quality eyewear. Other materials are also carefully chosen for their lesser impact and recyclability while not compromising on performance.
Plastic-Free Packaging
Packaging is free of plastic and is largely comprised of recycled and reclaimed cardboard.
Performance-Driven Design
Coast optics designed their range of glasses and goggles with trail conditions in British Columbia in mind. Often, cloudy, wet and dark but mild, they found most eyewear brands didn’t perform well in these conditions and decided to focus their range on offering excellent anti-fog, clear vision and ventilation properties.

It’s great to be able to bring this young, up-and-coming brand to the UK market while also supporting two British lads on their quest to take on the big names in eyewear.
