Los Angeles-based esports organization Sentinels announced Wednesday a strategic partnership with Theta Network to build and deploy an AI-powered fan-service agent.
Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Under the terms of this new deal, THETA will create and deploy a “sophisticated AI-powered fan-service agent “ that will be integrated into the organization’s official website on its Discord server. The AI agent will provide answers most commonly asked by fans, as well as match schedules and results, player information, upcoming merch drops, ticket availability, and access to other interesting Sentinels facts and content. The agent will be deployed later this month, according to the announcement.
The AI agent uses Theta EdgeCloud’s hybrid cloud-edge computing platform, which “combines more than 30,000 distributed edge nodes with cloud infrastructure from Google Cloud and Amazon Web Services to deliver hundreds of PetaFLOPS of GPU compute power,” according to THETA.
“At Sentinels, we’re always looking for ways to better serve our fans and make their experience more seamless,” said Rob Moore, CEO of Sentinels. “Fans will be able to come to our platforms and get instant answers to any questions they have, whether it’s 3 PM or 3 AM. By partnering with Theta Network, we’re ensuring that no fan question goes unanswered, while our team can focus on creating the content and experiences our community loves.”
Sentinels is an LA-based esports organization that fields competitive teams in multiple titles including Valorant, League of Legends, StarCraft 2, and Apex Legends. It is also the home of popular Valorant personality and former Counter-Strike pro player Tarik Celik.
Sentinels joins other esports-related organizations that have deployed AI agents powered by Theta’s technology including PlayVS, Method, 100 Thieves, Dignitas, Gen.G Esports, Cloud9, FlyQuest, NRG, and Evil Geniuses. The company also works with content creators such as YoBoyRoy; NHL teams such as the Las Vegas Knights and New Jersey Devils; and four of the top universities in South Korea. The company is backed financially by Samsung, Sony, Bertelsmann Digital Media Investments, and Creative Artists Agency, among others.
