Rishabh Pant who plays wicketkeeper-batsman for India announced on Wednesday that his injury recovery process shows positive progress and he expects to start playing professional cricket again in the near future.
He spoke this statement during the World Pickleball League event because he attended the event as co-owner of Mumbai Pickle Power according to a release.
The team conducted their grassroots outreach program which included 150 children through which Pant interacted with young fans. Pant continues his rehabilitation process at the BCCI Centre of Excellence which is located in Bengaluru.
“My fitness is getting better day-by-day. I will soon return to play because I am training hard at the Centre of Excellence which is located in Bengaluru, according to my assessment of my current progress,” said Pant during his interview with World Pickleball League.
The 27-year-old explained that athletes need to keep practicing their sport because they cannot use their body during extensive injury recovery periods. He credited his cricketing passion and his recovery support system for successfully completing his recovery process.
“The love for the game together with support from your environment, helps me stay connected to the game during my time spent dealing with injuries,” he said.
Pant explained that his cricketing performance requires continuous development because injuries have shown him this requirement.
Pant who has experienced multiple career restoration periods explained that his time away from competitive cricket helped him learn new perspectives about both the sport and his existence. He described the main challenge of his current situation as missing the chance to compete against top athletes. “I have learned life lessons from each of my comebacks. The experience has increased my appreciation for life, my understanding of the world, and my desire to dedicate myself fully to activities that bring me true happiness,” he said.
“The main thing that I value the most during my time as an athlete is experiencing complete pleasure from playing my sport. You have a strong passion for the sport, but your enjoyment of it comes through your experience at the highest competitive level. That is the main thing that I actually miss,” he signed off.
