Shakur Stevenson has hit out at the WBC after they stripped him of their lightweight title.
Stevenson held the WBC lightweight crown, but moved up in weight to win the WBO super lightweight world title with his masterful points success over Teofimo Lopez in New York on Saturday.
However, on Wednesday, the 28-year-old was stripped of his 135 pound title.
“In light of Champion Stevenson now being the reigning WBO Super Lightweight World Champion and consistent with the WBC Rules & Regulations, the WBC has declared vacant its Lightweight world title,” the WBC said in a statement.
“The WBC wishes Champion Stevenson continued success in all his future endeavours, both inside and outside the ring.
‘The WBC will provide further information regarding the process to crown a new Lightweight World Champion in the near future.”
The governing body opted to strip Terence Crawford of their super middleweight title in December for not paying sanctioning fees following his victory over Canelo Alvarez in September.
Stevenson, who is close friends with Crawford, claimed he is being given similar treatment.

“100k to some crooks who don’t deserve it?” he posted on X.
“Nah Leilani I rather give it to u baby girl.
And I just paid these dudes after my last fight.. What the hell im giving yall 100k right now for? Because yall got beef with Bud so come at me for it

The four-weight world champion made three defences of his lightweight crown and was expected to return to 135lbs following his victory over Lopez at Madison Square Garden.
The Newark man called out Conor Benn in his post-fight interview, but insists he will only face the Brit at welterweight if he agrees to a rehydration clause.
Jadier Herrera is the WBC interim lightweight champion and could feasibly ordered to face number one contender, William Zepeda, who was beaten by Stevenson in July.
