LeBron James’ recent emotional return to Cleveland has the NBA world wondering if The King is quietly planning to hang up his crown after this season. For our part, the fact that the Nike LeBron 23 has made it a point to highlight LeBron’s career accomplishments and milestones has us wondering the same, and whether that signals plans for Nike to sunset his numbered line and shift focus to retros. However, that doesn’t appear to be the case.
Appearing on Tyrese Haliburton’s Mind The Game podcast, LeBron himself confirmed that the Nike LeBron 24 is nearly finalized, and that the LeBron 25 is already in the works. You can find that clip embedded below.
Whether that means LeBron will still be in the league when the LeBron 24 and 25 release remains to be seen. It’s entirely possible that Nike will give LeBron the MJ treatment and continue releasing numbered signature models after his retirement, a possibility afforded by his lifetime contract with the Swoosh. There’s far too much up in the air to get into full speculation mode at this juncture. For now, let’s just be grateful that LeBron’s Nike Basketball reign isn’t stopping just yet.
