Josh Kelly became a world champion on Saturday, and Conor Benn has now emerged as a possible next opponent.
Benn and Kelly have gone back-and-forth for a number of years.
‘PBK’ defeated IBF world champion Bakhram Murtazaliev over 12 rounds in Sunderland.
He was dropped in the ninth round but recovered well and did enough to secure a majority decision victory.
He went on talkSPORT to discuss his win and what is next, while Simon Jordan gave his thoughts on how talented Kelly is.
“This kid is a star.
“People wrote him off after the Avenesyan fight.
“Maybe it’s Conor Benn.
“Probably Conor Benn doesn’t want that fight. He shouldn’t want this fight because he will get beaten up by Josh Kelly.
“There is a gulf in class in that fight.”
Benn was last in action in November 2025, where he beat Chris Eubank Jr in their fierce rematch.
Benn looks set to challenge for his first world title next, with names like Ryan Garcia, Shakur Stevenson and Rolando Romero al being discussed.

Despite Benn likely taking a step-up in his next fight, Kelly, who floored Murtazaliev in the fourth round, believes he is on a different level to ‘The Destroyer’.
“I think personally it might be a bit unfair on him throwing him in there with me right now.
“For me it is an easy money fight.

“That would be a tick over fight before I fight someone else.”
‘The Destroyer’ is set to fight at 147lbs for the first time in a couple of years after moving up to 160lbs for his two fights with Eubank Jr.
Aside from Benn, Jaron Ennis is a possible future opponent for ‘PBK’, with the fight specifically featuring in his contract with Eddie Hearn’s Matchroom Boxing.
