The United States returned to the ice Saturday morning and picked up right where they left off, shutting out a Finnish team ravaged by a bout with norovirus. Goals came from several familiar PWHL faces, including Seattle Torrent’s Alex Carpenter, Minnesota Frost’s Taylor Heise, Boston Fleet’s Megan Keller, and Seattle’s Hilary Knight.
The U.S. dominated the shot tally once again, firing 49 shots to Finland’s 11, all of which were turned aside by American netminder Aerin Frankel. It marked Finland’s first game of the tournament after their matchup with Canada was moved to February 12.
The Americans remain atop the Group A standings with a perfect six points, having surrendered just one goal through two games. Finland currently sits bottom of the standings, with Canada yet to complete its first game of the tournament at the time of writing.
The U.S. will return to action Monday afternoon at 2:40 PM ET against Switzerland. Finland will wrap up its back-to-back tomorrow at 3:10 PM ET against Czechia.
