Celtic Nations XC and Home Nations Cross Country Championships were held in very testing conditions on Parliament Hill in London.
The ground was soaked from the recent rain and as the races progressed the ground got more cut up and extremely muddy, making the going really tough.
Harris Pagett ran a superb race, working his way through the field to finish seventh overall and first U23 in the senior men’s race.
Peter Molloy led the men home in sixth and Logan Rees finished in eighth, suffering from a shoe issue after the first lap.
Jamie Burns and Angus Smith packed well to finish 13 and 14 respectively. England’s Hugo Milner showed his class by a winning margin of 23 seconds leading from the gun.

Scout Adkin after second place finish in the London mud-bath
Scout Adkin ran an excellent race to finish in second in the senior women’s race. Always in the lead group, the eventual winner Eleanor Curran broke away on the final lap.
Emily McNicol had a strong run to finish in tenth place with Grace Whelan at 17.
In the U23 Women’s category, Loughborough based Emma McLennan was first Scot home at 29 place with Charlotte MacPhie not far behind at 31.
The U17 and U20 Women raced over 6k together. Charlotte Rose Burton was first U20 home in ninth place and Rachel Caves our first U17 at 11. Both teams packed well in the muddy conditions.
The U20 men raced over 8k with Innes Wright leading the Scots home at 12. In the U17, race Harrison MacMillan had a great run to finish fifth overall backed by strong runs from Louie Muir in tenth and Tymek Chemlowski at 13.
Unfortunately, due to a technical hitch, positions in both the Celtic and Home Nation competitions were unavailable.
Parliament Hill proved a testing course and demonstrated British cross country at its best. The team raced well and didn’t appreciate the biggest test was yet to come: a very long journey home trying to negotiate British rail issues.
