Producer Mocks Claim WWE Was Furious Over Ricochet’s Legacy-Destroying Accusations

Shane Helms isn’t buying the drama around Ricochet’s AEW comments—and he’s calling out the reports in classic Hurricane fashion.

On February 8, 2026, the longtime WWE producer took to Twitter to poke fun at a Wrestling Observer report that claimed Ricochet’s recent anti-WWE comments had infuriated many within the company. Helms didn’t deny the story outright—instead, he mocked it with full-on disaster movie energy.

“I saw people kicking babies, catering got set on fire, Gorilla monitors were smashed to pieces, it was a f’n calamity I tell ya. 🤷🏻‍♂️”

This comes after Dave Meltzer claimed in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that Ricochet’s recent anti-WWE remarks had led to serious behind-the-scenes frustration within WWE. According to Meltzer, many in the company were not pleased with the AEW National Champion accusing WWE of destroying careers and draining passion from its talent.

Ricochet didn’t hold back in his original tweets, where he accused WWE of killing the legacies and love of the sport. And when fans tried to defend WWE or minimize his experience, Ricochet doubled down.

“Same thing happens to Balor, Shinsuke, Apollo and many others. WWE kills legacies and love of the sport. It’s what they do best. They took my love of pro wrestling away. I’ll never forget how I felt walking into work every week. And that platform was only to make others look good at my expense. And I told them, I’d rather quit and go back to the indies and make whatever I’d make there than to come back next week.”

While Helms didn’t directly respond to Ricochet, his tweet suggests that any “backstage chaos” may be overstated—or at least not as serious as reported. Even then, Ricochet’s words have led to a ton of discussions in wrestling circles about WWE’s creative structure and how it affects long-term morale. Whether Helms’ tweet was a genuine brush-off or a clever bit of deflection, one thing is clear—this story isn’t going away anytime soon.

Do you think Shane Helms was just joking, or is WWE trying to downplay real frustrations after Ricochet’s AEW comments? Let us know in the comments—we’re all ears.
