Basit Ali Foresees Babar Azam’s Revival

Basit Ali, former Pakistan believes Babar Azam will score five centuries in the next five months, especially since the pressure of captaincy is now off him. Following disappointing performances in recent ICC tournaments, Basit urges Babar to focus solely on his batting, suggesting a slight adjustment in his stance and improving his footwork.

Babar’s Resurgence

Ex-Pakistan batter, Basit Ali predicts that Babar Azam will score five centuries over the next five months now that he’s no longer Test captain. After a tough 2023 ODI World Cup and 2024 T20 World Cup, Pakistan is eager for success in Test cricket. Babar, who struggled in these tournaments, has been advised by Basit to concentrate solely on his batting and let go of the captaincy.

Basit also suggested Babar adjust his stance by narrowing it slightly, as his current wide stance has made him vulnerable, particularly during the Test series against Sri Lanka. He recommended that Babar study Virat Kohli’s stance, noting their similar height. This adjustment could help Babar regain his form and outperform top batsmen like Kane Williamson and Joe Root.

“Babar Azam will score five centuries in the coming five months. Babar has the best chance to leave the top batters behind, whether it is Kane Williamson or Joe Root. It is a very easy chance. However, now that the pressure of captaincy is off from him, he should forget about the captaincy. He should remove the thought of captaincy from his mind and just focus on scoring runs,” said Basit on his YouTube channel, shedding light on the former Pakistan captain.

Pakistan’s Poor performance In ICC T20 World Cup 2024

Pakistan’s T20 World Cup 2024 campaign ended in disappointment, with the team failing to pass the group stage despite high expectations. After a shaky build-up, including inconsistent performances and a lack of promising preparation, Pakistan struggled against both stronger and weaker teams.

The squad’s lackluster game led to early elimination, sparking criticism of the team’s leadership, management, and strategies.

Key issues included poor fitness levels, outdated approaches, and frequent changes in the team’s leadership and selection.

Fans’ discontent grew, further fueled by incidents of player harassment. PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi has called for a major overhaul, emphasizing the need for improved player selection, management, and grassroots development. The team must address these challenges to restore its reputation and competitiveness ahead of future international tournaments.
