Lawrence sends Cowboys harsh but true message after Super Bowl LX win

DeMarcus Lawrence offers Cowboys harsh truth after winning Super Bowl LX

The Seahawks beat the New England Patriots, 29-13, in Super Bowl LX at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California, on Sunday. Following the victory, 12-year veteran Lawrence sent a message to “America’s Team.”

“Players win championships … not logos,” the DE told former ESPN reporter Josina Anderson.

Dallas’ inability to retain stars like Lawrence — who logged 53 tackles and six sacks during the regular season — is one reason it still hasn’t won a Super Bowl since the 1995 season. Most of Seattle’s players weren’t even born yet when the Cowboys hoisted their fifth Lombardi Trophy. Entering the 2025 season, the average age of Seahawks players was 26.2 (via Spotrac).

Trading Parsons now looks even more boneheaded. The DE was named a 2025 Defensive Player of the Year finalist after finishing with 12.5 sacks during the regular season.

The Cowboys may be on the verge of making a similar mistake with star wide receiver George Pickens. Dallas is reportedly considering trading the pass-catcher if he doesn’t sign the franchise tag (a fully guaranteed one-year contract), even though he ranked third in the NFL in receiving yards (1,429) in 2025 and earned a second-team All-Pro nod.

Trading Pickens would also upset quarterback Dak Prescott. At the Pro Bowl last week, the Cowboys star made it clear he wants the wideout to stay in Dallas.

“I think it must be done,” Prescott said of re-signing Pickens (via ESPN’s Adam Schefter). “I think obviously from [owner Jerry Jones] to everybody down understands that, and one the impact on this offense and the team and the great player that he is. We’ve got to find a way to keep him here.”

Unlike the Cowboys, the Seahawks keep their best players, which is one reason they’ve established themselves as an elite organization. Seattle has won two Super Bowls since 2010 and had just three losing seasons during this time frame. What has Dallas done during this span? Generate plenty of headlines, but not win anything significant.

Perhaps if the Cowboys focused more on fielding a championship-caliber roster rather than promoting the logo, that would change. With that in mind, Dallas should listen to Lawrence, even if it doesn’t like hearing his thoughts.
