This will be short and anything but sweet.
After the Terriers played a strong opening 20 minutes, BC imposed its will the rest of the way, scoring twice in the middle period and three times in the third. They ended a decade-long Beanpot title drought with their first title since 2016.
Head coach Jay Pandolfo summed up the disappointing loss and addressed the disappointing season:
“I cannot get this group
to play the same way, period-to-period, shift-to-shift. It’s been that way all
year. It’s really nothing new tonight.
“It’s the whole group
right now. It’s a team issue, more than just one individual. It’s something
we’re trying to and the message isn’t getting through.”

Brandon Svoboda gave BU its only lead just two minutes into the game, cleaning up the rebound of an Aiden Celebrini shot from 40 feet out. Nick Roukounakis initiated the play barreling into the offensive zone along the right boards.

That held up until late in the period when a Cole Hutson penalty put BC on the man-advantage. Andre Gasseau connected for what was to be the first of three power-play goals.
Early in the second period, Sacha Boisvert made a power move to the net, only to be foiled by BC goalie Louka Cloutier. BU had no answer for BC’s aggressive forecheck and cycling in the Terrier defensive zone. The Eagles poured 16 shots on goal. Mikhail Yegorov, who stopped 32 shots, held the fort for nearly 15 minutes with several sparkling saves including this gem on a Brady Berard breakaway.

BC took the lead when Will Vote redirected a shot from the left point. Two minutes later the Eagles converted a second power play opportunity. Lukas Gustafsson fired a shot from center point past Yegorov who was screened by 6’7″ Dean Letourneau.
Five minutes into the third period, Gasseau’s second power-play goal stretched the lead to 4-1. BU reduced that margin by a goal when Cole Eiserman ripped a one-timer from the top of the right circle for his 12th tally. Assists went to Boisvert and Tynan Lawrence.
BC answered quickly as Letourneau got behind the Terrier defense and jammed a backhander past Yegorov. Vote’s empty-net goal closed out the scoring.
