Bron Breakker Could Miss WrestleMania 42 After Serious Hernia Surgery

Bron Breakker’s hernia surgery may have come after an intense Raw segment—but the recovery window now appears longer than WWE initially hoped.

During the February 10, 2026 edition of Wrestling Observer Live, Bryan Alvarez reported that the internal feeling within WWE is that Breakker won’t be medically cleared in time for WrestleMania 42. Despite being young and typically resilient, the former Intercontinental Champion is expected to be sidelined beyond April.

“One would think he would be on the shorter end of the recovery scale since he’s in his 20s, but it was a serious surgery. All I know is that within WWE there’s a feeling he isn’t going to be back by WrestleMania 42. He’s going to be out for a while, so we’ll see.”

This update follows earlier reporting from PWInsider, which clarified that Breakker’s hernia was a lingering issue—not something that happened solely during his Raw segment last week. While the intense physicality of the segment worsened the condition, surgery was already being discussed behind the scenes.

“The word making the way around Raw is that Bron Breakker’s hernia was an issue that had been ongoing prior to last week’s Raw but the determination was made that surgery was needed after his Raw appearance.”

The hernia had no effect on Breakker’s 2026 Royal Rumble appearance or elimination. WWE had already laid out creative plans for him heading into WrestleMania, which are now being reworked.

“Breakker’s booking in the 2026 Royal Rumble was not dictated by any injury or health issues. That was the creative that was decided for him at that event to start his run to WrestleMania, which obviously has now changed due to the surgery being needed.”

Now, with Breakker pulled from all travel and creative plans, WWE is pivoting—and it looks increasingly unlikely he’ll be part of the WrestleMania 42 card.

Do you think WWE should keep Bron Breakker’s storyline warm for a post-Mania return, or build someone else in the meantime? Let us know what you’d like to see in the comments.
