´We´re in a fight to stay in the league´ – Nmecha lauds Leeds´ belief

Lukas Nmecha hailed Leeds United’s belief in their 2-2 draw with Chelsea as they fight to retain their Premier League status.

After going 2-0 down at Stamford Bridge, Leeds salvaged a point, with Nmecha halving the deficit from the penalty spot before he assisted Noah Okafor’s equaliser.

Cole Palmer, who teed up Joao Pedro’s opener and scored from the spot, then missed from inside the six-yard box in stoppage time as Leeds held on for a potentially vital point in the relegation battle.

Nmecha scored his sixth Premier League goal of the season (20th appearance), while he has both scored and assisted in a match for the first time on the180th senior league appearance of his career.

Leeds avoided defeat having been two goals behind in a Premier League away game for the first time since March 2022 (won 3-2 against Wolves), while Chelsea last failed to win from two goals ahead in the competition in October 2023 (2-2 against Arsenal).

The point saw Daniel Farke’s side move above Tottenham into 15th.

“It’s amazing. In the first half, I don’t feel like we really got close,” Nmecha told TNT Sports.
