Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua have been on a collision course to eventually fight each other for over a decade now, but a fight has still yet to materialise.
Joshua’s promoter and Matchroom Boxing CEO Frank Smith has confirmed he still believes a fight between the pair is possible.
Following Fury’s recent announcement of a boxing return, and his fight with Arslanbek Makhmudov being revealed, talk has once again turned to potential heavyweight clashes.
He is set to return on April 11th against the Russian, with a venue yet to be announced.
One name ‘The Gypsy King’ has discussed as a possible opponent is WBO world champion Fabio Wardley, who has also admitted his interest in the fight.
Despite rumours of a bout between the pair, Smith told talkSPORT that he believes the commercial draw of ‘AJ’ versus Fury would be too significant to risk.

“I don’t think he will fight Fabio Wardley.
“I don’t think it is commercially big enough for the risk if the ‘AJ’ fight is there.”
Joshua’s return to the sport remains unconfirmed, despite promoter Eddie Hearn stating he believes the two-time world champion will make a comeback.
‘AJ’ posted an emotional update on January 31st, addressing his thoughts following the tragic events that took place in Nigeria.

He spoke on his motivations to carry the legacy of his two friends, ‘Latz’ and ‘Sina’, in any way that he can.
“I know what I feel, I know what my duty is.
“The mission must go on.
“I understand my duty and I understand what they wanted to do for their families.
“My goal is to continue to help them achieve their goals.”
TalkSPORT’s Spencer Oliver has claimed he believes a fight with Fury can still happen, even at this stage in both men’s careers.

“We know now with this emotional statement that Anthony Joshua put out, Anthony Joshua said there is still an appetite for boxing and he will be coming back to boxing.
“So that fight does still happen. I think that at this late stage of their careers we do get Fury vs Joshua.
“I think that will be fight number three. I think the roadmap for Fury now will be Makhmudov. I think he then targets the WBO champion Fabio Wardley and then tries to pick up a world title there.
“Before Tyson Fury vs Anthony Joshua, the fight that we always wanted. And if you get a world title on the line with that, if he does go and win that world title, then it makes it even more interesting to watch.
“That is a fight that we have been talking about for five or six years now that we haven’t got over the line.”
