Nia Jax Is Embracing Her Role As A WWE Locker Room Leader

Nia Jax has always been one of the most-talked-about female WWE superstars, whether it is because of her powerful style in the ring or the criticism that sometimes comes her way. But even with the controversy and backlash, the former WWE Women’s Champion is focusing on being a leader in the locker room.

Last year, Jax was involved in an awkward moment during a big Triple Threat match on SmackDown. Tiffany Stratton defended the WWE Women’s Championship against Jade Cargill and Jax in the main event. Stratton kept her title, but the ending didn’t go as smoothly as intended. Jax kicked out a few seconds after the referee had already counted two. This caused confusion in the ring, and some fans expressed their frustration.

Many online critics blamed Jax for the mistake, and some even questioned why she was still on the roster. Earlier, Jax had pushed Cargill into the steel steps. Cargill made contact headfirst and suffered a cut. Social media immediately erupted with claims that Jax was unsafe.

Still, not everyone agreed with that idea.

Chelsea Green spoke up in Jax’s defense on X. She tweeted, “The internet not knowing that Nia is one of the best is the biggest travesty. We’re lucky to have her as a locker room leader.”

When Jax was reminded of Green’s comments during an interview with Chris Van Vliet, she said, “I love that. That’s awesome. She’s great. I honestly feel the same about her.” Jax added that since returning to WWE, she has stepped into more of a leadership role.

Nia Jax explained that she has been in WWE longer than most of the current women on the roster. Because of that, she feels responsible for keeping certain traditions alive, the same ones she learned when she first started.

“My coach was Bill DeMott when I got hired for the WWE, and he was very old school, very traditional in the ways, you know, shake hands, introduce yourself to everybody. You guys set up the ring, you break down the ring, you watch every match,” Jax said.

Jax had to learn every part of the business. So she understood how everything worked. “We never had the opportunity to not go to a show, even if we weren’t working. I had to learn how to ring announce, how to time keep. I had to learn everything from the ground up, and it’s different now in NXT. So it’s not really their fault. They just don’t know better. So I feel like, since I do know better, it’s my job to help,” she explained.

While some fans may still criticize her performances, instead of worrying, Nia Jax is more focused on using her experience to guide others.
