Maple Leafs prospect checkpoint: How has Tinus Luc Koblar fared through 5 months of 2025-26?
Koblar was a teammate of Maple Leafs’ 2024 fourth-round pick Victor Johansson during the year with Leksands IF. Among all players on Leksands IF, Koblar finished ninth with 21 points, a strong season for the then 17-year-old. Daily Faceoff and The Leafs Nation prospect expert Steven Ellis touched on what he has seen from Koblar’s game at the time of the selection.
As a 6-foot-3 center, there’s a lot to like from his physical attributes. He’s not a crushing presence, but he’s competitive and strong enough to win out most individual battles. Mix in good skating and good hockey IQ and I think there’s definitely some late-bloomer potential if he can unlock another level in his offensive game.
This season, Koblar played in two games with Leksands IF U20, picking up one assist before moving to Leksands IF of the Swedish Hockey League, the premier professional league in Sweden. Through 37 games played, Koblar has totalled five goals and five assists, putting the 18-year-old in a tie for 10th among all skaters on the club. As one of the youngest players on the team and in the league, Koblar is showcasing some of the potential the Leafs saw in the 2025 draft pick.
Koblar is going to get a chance to showcase his talents on the world’s stage at next year’s World Junior Championships, after Norway won the Division One A tournament, earning themselves a trip to the top group in Edmonton for the 2027 tournament. Koblar posted five goals and five assists across five games, finishing in a tie for third among all players at the Division One A tournament.
Listed at 6-foot-3, Koblar brings size to his game, which helps him succeed against men in the SHL. Koblar feels like a safe bet to remain with Leksands IF in the SHL for a couple of seasons, allowing for development in a spot where he has found comfort in the past few years.
Still a few years away from making an impact at the NHL level, Maple Leafs fans will get their first real look at Koblar during the 2027 World Junior Championships, helping to get a feel for where the 2025 second round pick is in terms of his development.
