This week’s releases include some of the most exciting titles of the year so far, but one acclaimed strategy game is stealing the show.
February is heating up, and this week marks a real highlight for fans of strategy, horror, and wacky ideas.
While big brands like Yakuza and Disciples are also making a comeback, all eyes are on a project that has been in development for over a decade. Anyone who thought they had seen everything in the strategy genre will be proven wrong here.
Make some room on your Steam wish list, because we’re taking a look at the most exciting new releases of this jam-packed week!
Highlight of the week: Mewgenics
(Genre: Turn-based Tactics / Roguelite – Developer: Edmund McMillen, Tyler Glaiel – Release: February 10, 2026 (Steam)
The wait is finally over: This project haunted the developers for over 13 years, but now it’s finally here. Edmund McMillen, creator of indie milestones such as The Binding of Isaac and Super Meat Boy, delivers what is arguably his most ambitious work yet with Mewgenics.
The first international reviews are already pouring in, awarding the game dream scores in the 90s – many are already touting it as the first hot contender for Game of the Year.
But what is it all about? You breed, train, and mutate an army of cats to compete in turn-based battles against brutal opponents. Each cat has a unique genetic code that determines its abilities, personality, and appearance. If you’re not careful, you’ll accidentally breed a generation of inbred cats with brittle bones—or, ideally, the ultimate fighting machine with laser eyes.
Your cats age, suffer permanent injuries, and die (often gruesomely). But their legacy lives on: you must mate them wisely to pass on the best traits to the next generation. With hundreds of abilities and items, the game offers almost infinite replayability for tactical foxes who can handle the quirky humor.
Not only the 90s Metascore, but also our enthusiastic review should convince you to at least keep an eye on this title:
